On a recent episode of Say Yes to the Dress, the theme of the show was "1st Dress Syndrome."

The show addressed the issues that arise when the bride goes wedding gown shopping and is basically wow'ed by the first dress she tries on. The problem with this is that no bride ever expects the first dress she tries on to be "the one." Brides expect to try on a handful of wedding gowns, sometimes hundreds of gowns, before she expects she will feel that aha moment of "This is my dress."

In every case of brides trying on a first dress and loving it, they all continued to try on more gowns. After all, how could buying A Wedding Dress be THAT easy as to go to Kleinfeld, David's Bridal or other wedding gown salon and buy the first dress you try. Crazy? right? or is it. The fact is that 80% of brides buy the first dress they try on.

If you love the very first wedding dress you try there is nothing weird or strange or wrong with that. It's dang lucky is what it is! This doesn't mean you shouldn't try on a handful of others for comparison sake and to make certain there isn't one you like more.

You believe in human love at first sight, don't you? This isn't much different. Everyone has a different style of shopping too. Some women rely more on the opinions of others, while others know exactly what they're looking for and what they like.

Just remember, this is YOUR day. Your wedding day. And at the end of the day and at the end of the gown fitting, YOU are the one that has to be in love with the dress! So listen to your heart and trust in your gut. You'll know when the dress is right - 1st dress or not!
